Annotated Webpage

New Webpage

During the process of rebranding my production I decided to create a new webpage. After further research and consultation with both old and new focus groups, I came to the conclusion that the original webpage was too bland for the demographic. Younger girls like exciting, colourful websites, with appropriate features such as games and groups to join.

Through redesigning the webpage I have created a stronger brand identity for the group. I have also increased fandom associations with the group through the creation of individual pages for each of the girls. This would provide information about the band members, encouraging young girls to look up to them, and even choose a favourite.

Websites of artists with a similar demographic

It is interesting to consider Miley Cyrus as an artist, and as a member of the disney group. Her Hannah Montana character from the television series is marketed very differently to her own music brand as Miley Cyrus. The two websites give some understanding of the difference. The Miley Cyrus website is more mature and more personal, whereas the Hannah Montana website is targeted towards a very young audience, represented by its interactive features, games and colourful display.

Other artists websites which I have used for research include:

Whilst the webpage I have created is not as interactive as this one, I feel it is well targeted towards a slightly older demographic. Hannah Montana is targeted at a very young audience. I feel that 'The Stefanis' would be perfect for those girls who have outgrown artists such as the Disney singers, and are ready to move on to a similar, but slightly 'cooler' artist.

Target Audience

I have decided to target the promo pack more specifically at a younger target audience, of young girls and teenagers. The girls featured in the video are around the age of 18 and therefore can act as figures for young girls to look up to. Certain elements of the music promo pack already fit this target audience, but others do not, and therefore will be removed or edited.

The digipack and website are more relevant to a younger demographic than certain parts of the video. This is most likely due to the development of the project as it progressed. The idea of targeting the music promo pack at a younger female audience became apparent during the production process. This meant that certain, earlier filmed parts of the video are not fully in keeping with the theme that has developed.

The sweet nature of the girls appeals to a disney type audience, and if I can work on this theme, I feel this will enhance my production by targeting it more specifically at a particular audience.

NEW ENTRY

After feeling unhappy with my first entry I have decided to re-enter my coursework production, giving me a chance to improve, rework and update my music promo pack. I have filmed new footage, which combined with some of the old footage, will hopefully give the music video a new look, pitch it at a new demographic, and generally enhance the promo pack.

Here is my first rough edit including some of the new footage, to give an idea.

Last Minute changes to Digipak!

On a second look, and with comments from my focus group as well as other friends and teachers, I have slightly changed my Digipak cover and insert. We decided that the front page of the insert was more eye-catching that the original front cover, and so I have replicated this design to the outside cover as well.

On the back outside cover I have now included a barcode and record label logos, to make it look more authentic. I have also incorporated the heart motif from the cover to the back, as this was a well-liked feature.

The insert has mostly remained the same apart from some minor adjustments to the borders and also the inclusion of the photograph originally located on the outer front cover, now featured on the back of the insert.
